1. Can I still locate my phone after I changed my Google account password?
It is an entirely logical thing to change your Google account password after you lose your phone. This action prevents someone else from having access to all your emails, short messages or documents, etc. Don’t worry about losing the ability to track your device because Android Device Manager will still work after you’ve changed your password. If you can’t remember your password, you can click “forgot password“ on the login interface and go through the password recovery process.
2. Can I locate my phone if the battery is dead / it’s turned off / in airplane mode?
It’s a very probable scenario: your phone is lost and its battery won’t last forever or a potential thief might have turned it off. What can we do? I am afraid that in this case there are no solutions to connect to your your phone – that is, unless you are working for the CIA or FBI.
Active internet connection is one of the preconditions, if there is no internet connection, your phone is unable to send its approximate location. The good news is that you can use your phone’s location history to check where it was last located before its internet connection stopped. Except for this, you have no other options but to wait and hope that someone turns it on and connects to the internet.
3. Why can’t I see my device on Android Device Manager?
There are many reasons that may cause this to happen: your phone could be off, disconnected from the internet or your Google account. Keep in mind that changing your Google account password will automatically disconnect it from Google, so try connecting to your Google account again.
Also, trying to locate a device with Device Manager doesn’t always work. I recommend that you keep trying to locate your phone every half hour or so. Your phone might have a bad connection or someone else turned it off and disconnected it from the internet.
4. Can I locate my phone if someone changed the SIM card?
Even if someone puts their SIM card in your phone, you might be able to locate it. Changing a SIM card doesn’t disconnect it from your Google account, which is a good thing. It means that tracking tools like Android Device Manager will still work. The only needed precondition is that your phone stays connected to the internet.
5. Can I track my phone if someone did a factory reset?
The answer is NO. As we know, “factory reset” will bring your phone back to its factory settings. The most important thing – Google account data will be wiped out. You won’t be able to locate your phone by Android Device Manager anymore because it needs a Google account.
6. Can I locate my Android phone using my IMEI number?
Every phone comes with a unique International Mobile Equipment Identity number. Locating your phone with its IMEI number isn’t really possible. In some cases, the police can work together with a phone’s provider to locate it using its IMEI number. But I don’t suggest you walk into a police station and expect them to do that. A more realistic thing you can do is block your phone so that no one can use it to make calls, send texts or use the web. The best thing you can do is to contact your service provider.
